Varanasi a Land of Spirituality
Varanasi’s spirituality has been since early Vedic period where spiritualty path lead to the salvation and purify them in kashi Also referred to as Banaras or Varanasi is the oldest living city in the world. Ganges in Varanasi is believed to be very important as its flowing towards the north from the south and believe to be the power to wash away the sins of mortals with just one dip in the Ganges.
Varanasi’s spirituality can be seen in early morning where holy monks take holy dip and perform their sadhana on the bank of river Ganges .you might see shivalingam at ghat side as this is the city of lord Shiva where devotees offer their prayers. if you see the riverfront of this holy city its look like crescent shape, as belive to be Ganges holding like a mother and also lord Shiva has crescent on his head .
The present great river banks at Varanasi, built high in 18th and 19th century pavilions and palaces, temples and terraces, are lined with an endless chain of stone steps – the ghats – progressing along the whole of the waterfront, altering in appearance. Each of the hundred ghats, big and small, is marked by a lingam, and occupies its own special place in the religious city’s geography.
As there have been so many temples and ghat but three main temples that represnt the lord Shiva strcuture the first temple is Omkarshwar which is in north part of the city which reperesnt his head and second most important is the Viseswar the main jyotirling temple which is the representation of his chest to his head part and lasst one the Kaderswar temple which is the replica temple of Kedarnath temple, also known as the Ardhnrishwar where shiva and parvati resides together and reprsent from waist to down part .
